FAQ

When do classes start?

You can enrol at any time during the year ECD classes start as soon as there are enough learners enrolled to make a group viable.

Are there payment options?

There are easy and affordable payment plans for each qualification. There is an application fee payable in the first month followed by monthly instalments that start in the second month. Please contact us for specific payment plans for the qualification that you are interested in.

How many contact session must a learner attend?

Learners must attend 4 contact sessions a month of plus minus 4 hours that is scheduled over two days.

Do you offer an ECD Level 6 qualification?

Our focus is on affordable ECD level 4 and 5 qualifications that will enable our learners to work and teach in the pre-school environment for children between the ages of 0-5.  The level 6 ECD qualification is focused on Grade R in the primary school environment and that is not our focus.

What is Universal College Outcomes SA’s legal status?

Universal College Outcomes SA (Pty) Ltd is a registered company in the education field with Reg. No:  2000/028805/07 according to the Company Act, Act 61 of 1973.

Where is Universal College Outcomes accredited?

Our accreditation is with the QCTO (Quality Council for Trade and Occupation) through the ETDP SETA.  Our accreditation number is ETDPS 1123.

Are you registered with the DHET?

According to legislation we are in the DHET (Department of Higher Education and Training) registration process for private providers and you can find us on their published list of providers.

What can you do with the different ECD qualifications?

The Certificates in ECD are for anyone who has the ability to work and relate with children from birth to 5 years old and can include:

  • Learners wanting to pursue a career in Early Childhood Development.
  • Anyone involved in privately operated or community-operated crèches or nursery schools that provide for children from birth to 5 years.
  • Anyone involved in public or independent pre-primary schools that provide for children from 1 to 5 years of age.
  • Anyone involved in home-based provision for children from birth to 5 years old.
Why is there an external moderation process?

To ensure good quality the ETDP Seta independently verifies all qualifications in an external moderation process.

Is distance learning available?

Distance learning is available for learners that cannot attend classes or are not near bigger centres.

When and how can you register at SACE?

You can register with SACE after completion of an ECD Level 4 qualification. Please contact SACE for specific application forms and requirements.

Must I Complete practical work hours while doing the qualification?

Practical ECD related work is part of the requirements for the ECD qualification.  Please note that you have to submit a register of practical work.
